Morsani College of Medicine Offers New M.S.H.I. with a Concentration in Healthcare Analytics

the morsani building where the magic happens

USF Health’s Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida continues to lead the way in online health informatics education, offering a new Master of Science in Health Informatics degree with a concentration in Healthcare Analytics, as well as an SAS Approved Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Analytics.

The growing stock of digital information known as Big Data impacts practically every profession, and healthcare is no exception. This wealth of data needs professionals with the know-how to dig into, catalog, analyze and discern its value, and USF Health’s concentration in Healthcare Analytics equips students to do just that.

Graduates will emerge with not only a degree or certificate, but also with the potential to radically change the quality and organization of healthcare delivery. Taught by practicing medical professionals and industry experts, this program is the only one of its kind offered by a medical school.

“Health data analytics is the key that gives healthcare providers access to the benefits of big data,” said Dr. Athanasios Tsalatsanis, associate professor, College of Medicine Internal Medicine. “USF Health’s new programs will prepare students to assume the vital tasks of uncovering the value in the volumes of data available to health organizations.”

USF Health’s goal for its new programs is to develop healthcare systems as information environments that will significantly enhance and extend the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivery. Students will learn to think analytically, enhance creative problem-solving skills, encourage strategic analysis and foster data-driven decision making.

The objective is to produce graduates who, as healthcare professionals, will analyze and contextualize large databases of healthcare-related information that are relevant to the continued expansion and development of diverse healthcare organizations.

Continuously ranked among the Best Online Schools and Best Medical Schools for Research by U.S. News & World Report, USF Health is also a HIMSS Approved Education Partner.

Enrollment for these programs opens soon.
